BB&T Executives Sell $2 Million in Stock

Two executives of BB&T Corp. recently sold a combined amount of stock worth more than $2 million, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday.

Kelly S. King, CEO and chairman of BB&T, exercised stock options, buying 60,000 shares at a pre-established price of $27.73 per share. King then sold the stock at the market value of $54.6814, according to the filing.

The CEO earned more than $1.61 million through the process. King also gave away 23,071 shares, which sums to an approximate market value of $1.26 million.

King has five exercisable stock options remaining, which range from a purchase price of $30.08 to $38.22. Of the five options, the earliest expiration date occurs Feb. 22, 2021.

Additionally, Executive Vice President Cynthia B. Powell sold 8,929 shares of the company’s stock at a market price of $54.5145, nearly totaling $487,000 according to another filing.

As of now, King directly owns nearly 289,000 shares, more than 8,000 through a 401(k), more than 100,000 through an IRA, and his spouse owns more than 61,000 shares.

Powell, on the other hand, no longer directly owns any shares, though she indirectly owns just more than 3,400 shares through a 401(k).

The company’s stock presently sits at $54.87.
