Cary-based Cicero Fires CTO

Cary, North Carolina-based business software integration company Cicero Inc. has fired its chief technology officer.

Antony Castagno became CTO at Cicero in 2010. He also served on the company’s board of directors. His termination is “effective immediately,” according to the filing.

Castagno has served multiple roles at other software companies, including co-founding OpenSpan Inc., a company that offers application integration and consultation services.

Founded in 1988 and incorporated in 2004, Cicero provides technology to improve the efficiency of processing and automation in employee centers.

The company’s signature services, Cicero Insight and Cicero Automation, work to highlight potential areas of improvement in business processes and simplify employee work. Cicero provides services to various companies, including Nationwide and UBS.

Working with information technology consulting and system integration firms to improve its products, Cicero also offers training courses and labs to help customers understand its technology.

John Broderick has served as chief executive officer at Cicero since 2005. He joined the company four years earlier, operating in other roles such as chief financial officer and chief operating officer in his time.

The company’s shares closed Tuesday at 1 cent.
