Chamber welcomes North Carolina President of Duke Energyat their Annual Meeting

The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Presenting Sponsor Rocky Mount Mills and Host Sponsor Nash Community College, announce the 114th Annual Meeting with keynote speaker, David Fountain, North Carolina President of Duke Energy. The dinner is scheduled for Monday,February 5, 2018.

“The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to have David Fountain join us as the keynote speaker at our 114th Annual Meeting. David is North Carolina President of Duke Energy. David started with Carolina Power & Light in 2000 which later merged with Florida Progress to form Progress Energy. David was instrumental in the merger between Duke Energy and Progress Energy in 2012.” David Farris, President of the Chamber, commented on the speaker selection noting.

David Fountain is the North Carolina president of Duke Energy, serving approximately 3.3 million electric retail customers and 717,000 natural gas customers. He is responsible for the financial performance of Duke Energy’s regulated utilities in North Carolina and managing state and local regulatory and government relations, and community affairs. He also has responsibility for advancing the company’s rate and regulatory initiatives, water strategy, hydroelectric licensing and lake services.

In addition to passing the Chairman’s gavel from Marty Nealey, VP Operations & Plant Manager of Pfizer to Dr. Dewey G. Clark,President atNorth Carolina Wesleyan College, the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize the 2017 Distinguished Citizen of the Year and provide a brief overview of the year ahead. This year the Chamber will introduce a new award, the President’s award. The President’s Award will be presented by the Chamber President to an individual or group that has made a positive contribution to the Chamber, has given unselfishly of their time for the betterment of the business community in the Twin Counties region and local citizens.

The dinner meeting begins promptly at 6:00 p.m. with seating for dinner at 6:15 p.m. Tickets for the event are $60 per ticket for members $70 for prospective members.
