ChannelAdvisor Corp. reported on Thursday that its third-quarter revenue was at the top of its previous guidance range but a loss that was worse than expected.

The company reported total revenue of $30.1 million for the third quarter of 2017, up 8 percent from $28 million in the same quarter a year ago.

The previous guidance expected third-quarter revenue to fall between $29.7 million and $30.1 million.

ChannelAdvisor, however, reported an increase in its net loss to negative $4.1 million from a net loss of negative $2.6 million in the third quarter of 2016.

Net loss per share was negative 15 cents, while analysts expected a net loss per share of negative 5 cents.

Average revenue per customer, based on the last 12 months, has increased 9 percent to $41,748 for the twelve months ended Sept. 30, 2017, compared with $38,400 for the twelve months ended Sept. 30, 2016.

Total customer count increased 0.7 percent year-over-year.

The Morrisville-based company updated its full year 2017 guidance after a slower-than-expected recovery in digital marketing, as well as a sales reorganization in North America. ChannelAdvisor expects full year revenue to fall between $122.4 million and $123.0 million.

“We remain confident in our ability to drive faster growth next year, as these changes in the North America sales organization are designed to replicate the strong results we have seen internationally following similar organizational changes earlier in the year,” said CEO David Spitz in a statement.

“With these changes and continued investments in our technology leadership, we are confident we are now even better positioned to make improving progress toward our long-term financial targets.”

ChannelAdvisor’s shares closed Thursday at $10.95, unchanged on the day.
