Williams Company Southeast to Break Ground for Wegmans-anchored Center in Raleigh


Construction manager Williams Company Southeast will break ground this month for the new Wegmans-anchored Midtown East retail center near downtown Raleigh, N.C., under a contract exceeding $20 million. Regency Centers (NYSE: REG), based in Jacksonville, Fla., is developing the project in partnership with ITB Holdings LLC, Chapel Hill. Located on Wake Forest Road near the I-440 Beltline, the upscale center will feature a 120,000 square foot Wegmans Food Market, an adjacent 400-car elevated parking deck, plus five additional retail buildings. The project was designed by the Raleigh-Durham office of Gensler. McAdams, Durham, serves as the civil engineer. An opening is planned for the second quarter of 2019.
