Aug. 12 Event Featuring Eddie Money a Success

Despite muggy weather and even a quick downpour, more than 2,200 fans and supporters attended the 8th Annual Rock Your World benefit concert on Aug. 12 at Cary’s Booth Amphitheatre. The event, headlined by rock and roll icon Eddie Money, raised over $150,000 for two charities: Hope for Haiti Foundation and Water for Good.

Hope for Haiti Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in North Carolina and a licensed Haiti NGO, with volunteers and supporters all over the United States and Haiti. The Foundation’s work impacts individual Haitians, empowering them to act and change their own nation.

Water for Good tackles water poverty in one of the world’s most forgotten countries. Its goal is to provide clean, lasting water for every man, woman and child in the Central African Republic.

In addition to performances by Eddie Money, Dez Money and Faze, Band of Brothers, Rick Livingstone and Trey Heffinger, the event also featured a “Two Tickets to Paradise” raffle, silent auction, TapSnap photo booth, Fastrax car racing, and an opportunity to roll dice to win a new car.

“This event started many years ago as a party in a parking lot, and now we’re attracting big-name rock stars to play at a major venue,” said Mark Martyak, one of the event organizers. “We’d like to thank the attendees, volunteers, sponsors and artists for making this an unforgettable evening. Now we’ll have to see how we can top this next year.’”

Premier Sponsors of Rock Your World are PowerSecure and Financial Strategies Group. Additional sponsors include Social House Vodka, S&A Communications, RallyPoint Sport Grill and Bost Custom Homes.
