Local event brings together tourism and hospitality workers that represent 1 in 9 jobs in the Charlotte community

WHAT

The Charlotte Area Hotel Association (CAHA) is proud to celebrate the work of housekeeping teams from local hotels through a fun event and friendly competition. Nearly 100 hotel employees will compete in the Housekeeping Olympics in six competitions that are based on their everyday tasks that make visitors to Charlotte feel welcome and comfortable. Competition categories include bed making, a mop and vacuum race, buffer pad toss, a team spirit competition and a “decorate” an Executive challenge.

While the event is an opportunity to pull talented teams from area hotels together for some fun and games, it also allows job seekers to see the hotel industry as a great, fun place to work, with jobs that can put people on career paths within this large local industry. One in nine people employed in Charlotte work in the hospitality and leisure sector, and the hotel industry is currently hiring. Scholarship opportunities and certification programs are available through Central Piedmont Community College. Program graduates are extended job offers at a CAHA job fair immediately following the graduation ceremony.
