Cybil J. Abrao and Christy W. Hancock
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP is pleased to announce that Cybil J. Abrao and Christy W. Hancock, attorneys in the firm’s Charlotte office, have been named 2017 Leaders in the Law by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly magazine.
The Leaders in the Law recognizes legal professionals licensed and practicing law in North Carolina who “have gone above and beyond in their profession and the community” and “represent the most influential individuals within our state’s legal community.” Ms. Abrao and Ms. Hancock will be honored Sept. 15 at the publication’s seventh annual Leaders in the Law awards event.

A senior attorney and member of Bradley’s Banking & Financial Services and Real Estate practice groups, Ms. Abrao represents national and regional financial institutions, investors, developers and borrowers in connection with complex financial transactions, with a particular emphasis on transactions involving commercial real estate. She also has counseled global investment banks, underwriters and collateral managers in the issuance of a variety of structured finance and securitization vehicles. Ms. Abrao earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and her Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University.
Ms. Hancock is a partner in the Banking & Financial Services Practice Group and serves on the Executive Committee of the firm. She focuses her practice on financial services litigation and regulatory compliance matters. Her work with mortgage servicing and financial institution clients primarily concerns laws affecting the mortgage servicing business. Her compliance work includes assisting clients with issues such as payment application, correspondence requirements, allowable fees, loan modifications, escrow requirements, property preservation, and bankruptcy and foreclosure procedures. She works closely with her clients and regulators/monitors on developing and implementing Corrective Action Plans to ensure compliance with state and federal law. Ms. Hancock earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) from the University of South Carolina.
