Cary Family Dental Event Provides Free Care to 165 Patients

5/1/17

As Part of Sixth Annual “Dentistry From The Heart” Event

Hundreds lined up outside Cary Family Dental on Saturday, April 22, as part of the dental practice’s Sixth Annual Dentistry From The Heart event. At the end of the day, Dr. Allan Acton and a team of dentists, staff and volunteers provided approximately $47,000 in free dental care to 165 adults.

This year’s event involved eight volunteer dentists who performed 76 cleanings, 53 extractions and 36 fillings for adults with a valid ID.

The event was promoted through community calendars, press releases, media interviews, outreach to local churches and nonprofits, and through Cary Family Dental’s own office, website and social media channels. The practice’s patients generously donated $3,775 to help offset costs.

Although people started being processed at 7 a.m., some had arrived the night before. Throughout the day they were treated to refreshments from Starbucks, City Barbeque and Ruckus pizza, as well as entertainment from a local musician.

“This was our best Dentistry From The Heart event in the past six years,” said Dr. Acton. “To have an event like this to serve 165 people with over 100 volunteers takes a Herculean effort. I could not be prouder to be part of a team that can pull this event off. I hope in some small way it helps the lives of those we saw that day.”

Over the six years Cary Family Dental has been holding this local day of service, more than 900 adults have received more than $300,000 in free care.
