Bojangles’ CEO Saw 52.8 Percent Increase in Compensation for 2016

The president and chief executive officer of Bojangles’ Inc. saw a 52.8 percent increase in total compensation to $1,468,939 in 2016, according to the proxy filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Clifton Rutledge’s total compensation in 2015 was $965,874.

Rutledge’s base salary increased to $525,756 in 2016, up almost 3 percent from $510,558 in 2015. His 2016 total compensation was drastically higher than the year prior because of $315,875 stock awards and $191,800 option awards he received in 2016.

Rutledge has served as CEO of Bojangles’ since January 2014 and as director, president and CEO of the company and the restaurants since February 2014.

The senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer, John Jordan, saw a 34.6 percent increase to $824,148 for 2016. Jordan’s total compensation for 2015 was $612,039.

Jordan also saw a slight increase in base salary for 2016, going from $316,744 for 2015 to $326,172 for 2016 and received $135,375 in stock awards and $82,200 in stock options for 2016.

The company’s stock closed at $20.90, up 35 cents, or 1.7 percent, on Friday.
