Martin Marietta Materials CEO Ward Nye’s Compensation Increases 69 Percent

Martin Marietta Materials Inc.’s chief executive officer saw a 69 percent increase in total compensation in 2016 due to a rise in his salary, stock awards and bonus, according to the company’s proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ward Nye’s compensation for the 2016 fiscal year totaled $8.03 million, up from $4.74 million in 2015. His base salary increased from $977,500 in 2015 to $1.05 million.

Nye was awarded $4.68 million in stock options, compared to only $1.69 million in 2015. He also received an annual bonus of $1.3 million.

Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Anne H. Lloyd received total compensation of $2.71 million for fiscal year 2016, up 34 percent from 2015. This includes a $526,139 bonus and stock awards of $1.06 million.

Martin Marietta, which supplies the aggregate building materials used in constructing roads and foundations, reported 2016 revenue of $3.8 billion. Net income was listed as $425 million, compared to $288 million in 2015.

The company is expecting the infrastructure market to increase mid-single digits this year, and 2017 guidance for consolidated net sales is $3.95 billion, up from $3.6 billion in 2016. Consolidated gross profit is forecasted to grow from $900 million in 2016 to $1.1 billion in 2017.

Martin Marietta’s shareholders meeting will be held on Thursday, May 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the company’s headquarters located at 2710 Wycliff Road in Raleigh.

The company’s shares closed at $212.69 on Monday, up $2.58, or 1.23 percent.
