Dollar General opened its second DGX location in Raleigh. The new 4,774-square-foot location is one of the company’s small-format stores featuring a modern retail concept. It is located at 149 E. Davie St. on the ground floor of The Edison Lofts, a seven-story apartment development in downtown Raleigh. Jon Stanley, Vice President, Retail Services with JLL, represented DGX in the lease transaction.

Dollar General revealed the DGX concept in late 2016 and opened its first DGX in Nashville in January 2017. DGX’s Raleigh location kicked off with a grand opening earlier this month.

“Downtown Raleigh continues to see a resurgence and thrive with new high-rise apartments and high-end office development. The new DGX store is in a prime location and brings a one-of-a-kind concept to our downtown market,” said JLL’s Stanley.

One of the major trends contributing to Downtown Raleigh’s revival is the increase in new multifamily construction. According to JLL’s Multifamily Investment Outlook, Raleigh experienced the third-highest multifamily absorption in 2016 across 40 U.S. markets.
