Nucor Names John Walker As New Lead Director

Nucor Corp., an American steel production company, named a new lead director, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On Feb. 21, the board of director’s lead director, Raymond J. Milchovich, announced he would not be up for reelection as director of the company.

In turn, the board unanimously elected John H. Walker as lead director.

Walker has been a member of the board since 2008 and has more than 30 years of experience in metal-related manufacturing.

“John Walker has extensive experience across metal-related industries, serving in a variety of leadership capacities, and has a deep understanding of Nucor,” said Nucor’s CEO John Ferriola in a press release. “I am pleased that our independent directors have selected John to serve in this role and believe that his judgment and broad perspective will serve him well as our lead director.”

Founded in 1940, Nucor is a manufacturer of steel products, with operating facilities primarily in the U.S. and Canada. Nucor is currently the largest steel producer in the U.S., as well as North America’s largest recycler.

Nucor trades on the NYSE under the ticker NUE. The company is currently trading at $64.63, up 74 cents, or 1.16 percent midday Tuesday.
