Deuterman Law Group attorney Benjamin Burnside has earned accreditation from the Veterans Administration to handle veterans disability benefits claims. Only certified attorneys and representatives can represent veterans in their claims.
Since 2006, Burnside has been representing injured and disabled workers with their Social Security Disability claims. With the new certification, Burnside can bring use expertise to help injured and disabled veterans get the benefits they are entitled. He works closely with fellow DLG attorney Gentry Hogan on these cases.
Burnside, who is board certified in Social Security Disability law, is also a member of the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates.
A native of Greensboro, N.C., Burnside graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2003 with a bachelor's degree with honors in philosophy and religion. He earned his juris doctor with honors in 2006 from the UNC School of Law., and in the same year he was admitted to the N.C. State Bar.
In 2008, Burnside became a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a prestigious association of trial lawyers. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million dollar or multimillion dollar verdicts, awards or settlements for their clients. Less than 1 percent of attorneys in the United States are members of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and fewer than 100 attorneys in North Carolina have earned the distinction since the group was founded in 1993.
Burnside is a also member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR), the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ), the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA), the Greensboro Bar Association (GBA), and the Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group (WILG). He has also served as the co-chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee for the Social Security Disability Section of the NCAJ.
