N.C. State Bar Certifies Attorney Casey S. Francis As a Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law

Attorney Casey S. Francis

Casey S. Francis, an attorney with the Deuterman Law Group, has earned the status of Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law. This designation is a testament to Francis’s expertise, her performance as an attorney and her reputation in the legal community.

The N.C. State Bar, through the Board of Legal Specialization, determines which attorneys statewide become board certified specialists. To become legal specialists, attorneys are required to have practiced a minimum of five years, undergo peer review by other attorneys and judges, participate in continuing legal education in the subject matter and pass a board exam.

The N.C. State Bar offers this certification as a service to the public by helping them identify lawyers who are most qualified to represent them. A board certified attorney, such as Francis, has demonstrated special knowledge, skill and proficiency in a particular area of the law.

Francis, along with firm founder and president Dan Deuterman, is one of only 17 attorneys in Greensboro recognized as a Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation.

Since she joined the Deuterman Law Group in 2011, Francis has been the lead attorney on workers’ comp cases involving Spanish-speaking clients with a focus on representing undocumented workers in their claims. She has unmatched experience in the state in these kinds of cases.

Francis has spoken at several Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars for the N.C. Advocates for Justice, teaching other attorneys in the state how to successfully represent undocumented clients in their workers’ compensation claims. She also planned a CLE on workers’ compensation for the N.C. Bar Association.

Casey graduated magna cum laude from N.C. State in 2008, earning bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and International Politics with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. She earned her juris doctor with honors in 2011 from the UNC School of Law. In the same year, she was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar.

Casey is vice president and founding member of the N.C. Association of Women Attorneys’ Piedmont Triad Chapter. She is a member of the N.C. Bar Association, where she serves as a council member for the Workers’ Compensation Section. She is also a member of the N.C. Advocates for Justice, the American Association for Justice and the Young Lawyers Association.
