Nutanix, the leading provider of advanced datacenter infrastructure solutions, recently completed a lease transaction for 70,000 square feet in the Chesterfield building at 701 W. Main Street in Durham. The Chesterfield is a 286,000-square-foot redevelopment project by Wexford Science + Technology in downtown Durham’s Brightleaf District. Nutanix will be joining Duke University and BioLab NC as anchor tenants in the building formerly known as the headquarters for Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company. Savills Studley, the leading global commercial real estate firm specializing in tenant representation, advised Nutanix in the lease negotiations.

The company, experiencing unprecedented growth in operations in Durham, outgrew its current space in the Measurement Building at 404 Hunt Street. A second location for additional operations has been leased on a short-term basis in the Croasdaile area of Durham, to complement the Hunt Street location. This expansion space will allow for continued growth while the company awaits build-out and occupancy of its new space in the Chesterfield building next summer.

Savills Studley Corporate Managing Director Marlene Spritzer of the firm’s Durham office led the lease negotiations for the team that included Executive Vice President Edwin Yarbrough, and Project Manager Whitney Rodgers. Corporate Managing Directors Joe Brady and Mike Mordaunt of Savills Studley’s San Jose office, who have worked with Nutanix’s headquarters office from its inception, collaborated with Spritzer and her team throughout the transactions.
