Charlotte-based 2ULaundry Raises $400,000

11/14/16

A laundry services company based in Charlotte raised $400,000 from 11 investors, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Started as a project at Wake Forest University, 2ULaundry provides laundry pickup and delivery services including wash and fold, eco-friendly dry cleaning and repairs. It was founded less than a year ago.

The minimum investment accepted from outside investors was $5,000, with the offering not made in connection with a business combination transaction such as a merger, acquisition or exchange offer. The offering is not expected to last more than one year.

2ULaundry’s service areas include the Charlotte metro, Ballantyne, Matthews, Pineville and Fort Mill. It has an emphasis on environment sustainability, using eco-friendly detergent, garment bags and recyclable hangers.

John Alexander Smereczniak, the company’s chief executive officer, signed the Form D on Nov. 14.

Private companies relying on a Reg D exemption do not have to register their offering of securities with the SEC, but must file a Form D electronically with the SEC after they sell its securities.

The Form D can be found here.
