BDO USA, LLP, one of the nation’s leading accounting and consulting organizations, today announced that Karen Stone has been promoted to Atlantic Tax Regional Managing Partner. In this role, Ms. Stone is responsible for leading the tax practices of eight offices stretching from Philadelphia to Charlotte, overseeing the formulation and implementation of growth strategies, as well as managing client services, recruiting and staff development.

During her more than 25-year career in public accounting, Ms. Stone has served clients in multiple industries with a focus on income tax services and the reporting needs of real estate, manufacturing, consumer business and healthcare companies. She has extensive experience in all areas of taxation for entities ranging from closely-held private organizations to large publicly traded companies, multi-national companies, portfolio companies of private equity firms, as well as high-wealth individuals. She regularly assists her clients in an array of tax specialty areas, including merger and acquisition issues and opportunities, and also manages federal and state tax examinations and settlement of tax controversy matters for her clients.
In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities, Ms. Stone is also a member of BDO’s Board of Directors and BDO’s Women’s Inclusion Strategy Group.
Outside of BDO, Ms. Stone is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, Association for Corporate Growth and the Nashville Healthcare Council. She recently joined the Charlotte Regional Partnership Board.
Ms. Stone is moving to Charlotte from Nashville, where she previously led BDO’s Tennessee tax practice. She earned her M.P.A. and B.S. in accounting from Louisiana Tech University.
