The Maryland Daily Record has named Offit Kurman a 2016 Innovator of the Year, recognizing the firm for its groundbreaking Cannabis Practice Group, which was founded this year by attorneys Jonathan Wachs and Darren Weiss. Mr. Wachs, Mr. Weiss and other representatives of the firm accepted the award at a recent reception event, where they were joined by fellow honorees and hundreds of influencers in the Maryland’s business community.
The Daily Record’s annual list honors people who have created new products, services or programs that have had a positive effect on their business, industry and/or community. Winners are selected based on the originality, power, challenge, and value of their innovative offering.

The 2016 Innovator of the Year awards reception, which also marked the 15th anniversary of the Innovator of the Year list, was held at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore on October 13, 2016. Offit Kurman attorneys Wachs and Weiss, along with Director of Business Development Jim Ries and Director of Marketing Bryan Lawson, accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
