North State Announces Chief Financial Officer Transition

HIGH POINT, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--North State, a leading fiber optic network, cloud and IT services provider, announced today that Jon Cage, vice president and chief financial officer, will retire effective December 31, 2016 after a 33-year career with the company. Mr. Cage will be succeeded by Scott Toth, who has been appointed vice president and chief financial officer. Mr. Toth, who joined North State in 2013, is currently director of finance & business analysis.

North State CEO Royster Tucker III remarked, "Jon has contributed immensely to North State’s development since he joined our company in 1983. We thank him for his many contributions and wish him the best as he approaches retirement.”

Mr. Cage will remain a member of North State’s board of directors, which he joined in 2008.

Mr. Tucker continued, “Scott and Jon have worked together very closely for the past three years and we expect a seamless transition. Scott has done an excellent job of providing the financial insights necessary for us to effectively execute our strategy. His experience will serve us well as we continue North State’s growth as a leading fiber optic network, cloud and IT services provider building on the many opportunities in the digital landscape.

Prior to joining North State, Mr. Toth held various management positions, including CFO, for companies repositioning themselves within the automotive, transportation and senior living industries. The companies included Arvin Industries, FedEx and Pennybyrn at Maryfield (Maryfield, Inc.). Mr. Toth began his career at Coopers & Lybrand in 1986. A certified public accountant, he earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York.

Ms. Welborn joined North State in 1975 and has served in a wide variety of roles and management positions with increasing responsibility. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Ethics from John Wesley University and a Masters of Business Administration from High Point University.
