Carlyle Appoints Dr. Daniel Yergin as Senior Adviser

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ: CG) today announced that Dr. Daniel Yergin, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Vice Chairman of IHS Markit, has been appointed as a Senior Advisor to the firm. In this role, Dr. Yergin will advise Carlyle on a range of issues including geopolitical developments, economic conditions and trends in the global energy sector.

Dr. Yergin is the author of several bestsellers: The Prize: the Epic Quest for Oil Money and Power, which won the Pulitzer Prize; The Quest: Energy, Security, and the Remaking of the Modern World; and Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy.

Dr. Yergin founded Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), which became part of what is now IHS Markit in 2004. He is a director of the Council on Foreign Relations and a trustee of the Brookings Institution. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council and a director of the United States Energy Association and the New America Foundation. He serves on the Advisory Boards of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Energy Initiative and the Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy and on Singapore’s International Energy Advisory Panel.

Dr. Yergin earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his PhD from Cambridge University, where he was a Marshall Scholar.
