Friday Factoid: Dick’s Sporting Goods Purchases Sports Authority IP for $15M

In a recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy auction sale, Dick’s Sporting Goods purchased most of Sports Authority’s intellectual property assets. For $15 million, Dick’s acquired Sports Authority’s e-commerce website, loyalty program records for 28.5 million members and 114 million customer files. The Sports Authority’s naming rights for the NFL stadium in Denver were not included in the sale.
