Fernandez Woodward to provide care for patients with Alzheimer’s and other dementias

Dr. Jennifer Fernandez Woodward has joined Memory Center Charlotte. She will provide care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, and offer guidance for their caregivers and families.

Fernandez Woodward earned her undergraduate degree from College of Charleston and received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency training in Asheville. For several years, she taught medical residents and students as a faculty member at Carolinas Healthcare System. She completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Northwestern University in 2016.

“With her previous work experience and her completion of the geriatric fellowship, Dr. Woodward is a perfect match for meeting the increasing patient growth at Memory Center Charlotte," says Dr. Charles H. Edwards II, Medical Director of Memory Center Charlotte.

Fernandez Woodward developed a passion for caring for the elderly from her days of being raised by her grandparents in Highlands, N.C. She has a keen interest in dementia care and caregiver support, and uses her background and training to bring a comprehensive approach to patient care.

“I was immediately drawn to the patient and family-centered approach that Dr. Edwards and the staff of Memory Center Charlotte use when taking care of patients with neurocognitive disorders,” she says. “The clinic is innovative and unlike anything else I'd ever seen. It was an easy decision for me to want to join the practice.”
