Grant Thornton LLP admitted Russ Daniel as Tax partner, Erin Lentz as Advisory Services partner and Josh Pittman as Audit partner in the firm’s Charlotte, N.C., office effective Aug. 1. Across the firm, Grant Thornton admitted 50 new partners and principals and promoted 29 professionals to managing director.

Daniel joined the firm in 2002 and has more than 20 years of experience assisting a wide variety of clients in identifying and evaluating tax risks and opportunities in connection with transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and implementing federal tax planning strategies. He has worked with numerous financial and strategic buyers in structuring acquisitions, buyouts, recapitalizations and internal reorganizations. He currently leads Grant Thornton’s Mid-South and East region M&A Tax Services practices. Prior to being admitted as partner, he served as a managing director.
Daniel is a certified public accountant (CPA) in North Carolina and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth and is a frequent speaker on topics relating to the taxation of mergers and acquisitions. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wake Forest University.
Lentz joined the firm in 2008 and has more than 10 years of experience managing forensic accounting, investigative and consulting assignments for a broad range of clients, primarily in the financial services and not-for-profit sectors. She has significant experience with issues such as validating mortgage servicer compliance with regulatory requirements and investigating fraudulent financial and real estate transactions. Prior to being admitted as partner, she served as a senior manager.
Lentz is a CPA in North Carolina and a member of the AICPA and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). She is also a certified fraud examiner and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, as well as a certified management accountant and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. She received a master’s of business administration degree from Duke University and a bachelor’s of business administration degree in accounting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Pittman joined the firm in 2002 and has 13 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on serving clients in the manufacturing, construction and real estate industries. He has significant experience providing accounting, auditing and consulting services in both the public and private sector. Prior to being admitted as partner, he served as a senior manager.
Pittman is a CPA in North Carolina and is a member of the AICPA and the NCACPA. He received a master’s degree in accounting and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
